2024 year in review

still processing that it’s not october anymore.

As you might know from previous years, I’m a big fan of noting highs and lows and it’s something we practice in our weekly Brighten Made team meetings. It allows me to feel more connected to my remote team and feels so good to celebrate the highs as a group. While I am literally SHOOK that 2024 is already over I’m feeling SO grateful for the past year and the lessons learned. I’m excited for this next era of Brighten Made and am heading into the new year feeling more ready than ever.

So, in true Brighten Made team meeting fashion here are a few highs and lows from the past year.

The High Points

  • Fully stepping into my role as a mama.

  • Taking my almost 1-year-old all over Italy — bringing grandparents is recommended.

  • Using my body to nurture my child for an entire year. How cool is that!?

  • Joe and I learning to incorporate Navy into all the thins we loved pre-kids.

  • Learning to slow down in the best way — I read, cooked, and played more than ever before.

  • Starting to plan our next house — eeeeek.

  • Worked on incredibly fulfilling creative projects that left me more confident than ever in this new era of Brighten Made

The Lows

  • Figuring out childcare and a system that works for me while building a business.

  • Making less money than in past years.

  • This year flew by in a blink of an eye, and I'm holding tight to these fleeting moments.

  • Navigating separation anxiety from my baby — mom guilt is real and never-ending.

  • Balancing wanting to be further along in my carer with also wanting to be content in the now.

  • Rediscovering my design style and my identity as a mom — it's been challenging but so rewarding.

WHEW that was a lot. I hope you take a moment or two to pause amongst the end of year madness and just enjoy the season you're in. I know with each year that passes things generally feel the same, but when you actually look back, you can see how far you've come. Cheers to the new year!
